As all of the matches for September are over, I though it is a perfect time to give out our DST Monthly Awards for the Barclays Premier League. Unlike the actual award we aren't biased and we hit the hard hitting truths and facts. This month will have four awards to give out. So without further adieu, let's get into it!
Manager Of The Month
There were many people deserving of this award especially Pep Guardiola, Arsène Wenger and Mauricio Pochettino but there was one man who impressed me even more. This managers team was tipped for a relegation battle but now sits in seventh place with 10 points this month, and that man is (I can't fucking believe I am about to stay this) Alan Pardew of Crystal Palace.
Like most people, I think Pardew is a shit manager, but you can't take away his great month with Crystal Palace. He hasn't lost one match, had 10 points and even had some massive victories like 4-1 against Stoke and their victory last week as they came back from 2-0 down to beat Sunderland 3-2. Honestly, Pardew, celebrate this because will be probably the last award you ever win.
The Resurrection Award
This is one of our newest awards where we pick the player who many thought that hope for this player was lost then suddenly came back from the dead and became a quality player for their team. I always try to make nominees but there only is one man for this award and it's Son Heung-min from Tottenham Hotspur!
Son has had an incredible month where he has scored five goals, had one assist, three Man of the Match Awards and an average rating of 8.3 (In all competitions). Also, if you only count Premier League games, his average match rating is 9.1 out of 10 which is amazing. Ever since Harry Kane has gone down, Son has stepped up and has been Tottenham's main man. For all of you Fantasy Premier League players get him in your team NOW.
Fuck Stoke City. Flat out; they have so much talent, and they still suck. If you follow the blog you know I said I was never betting on them again after another disappointing result for the Potters (and my parlay more importantly). They have been so bad I made an award just for them. For now on this award will be named the "Mark Hughes Get Me Out Of This Club Award". So, Mark, you will most likely be sacked or relegated if things don't turn around but hey, at least you got an award.
Player Of The Month
Nominees: Alexis Sánchez, Kevin De Bruyne and Son Heung-min.
All of these players have been amazing but one has just been a little bit better, and that player is Kevin De Bruyne of Manchester City.
Kevin De Bruyne had an 8.98 average match rating in the Premier League this month and is the key reason why Manchester City have won all of their matches this season (In the Premier League). In the Manchester Derby, we saw exactly why he is the best Central Attacking Midfielder in the League (Yeah I know what I said, suck it Ozil) as he single handedly beat Manchester United without the best striker in the Premier League (Sergio Agüero). Thankfully for a Tottenham fan, he won't be playing us this weekend because he is one of the most if not THE most dangerous player in England right now.
If you have any other awards, you want us to do for next month Tweet us at DST_Tweets. Thank you so much again for all of your guys support and helping us grow. Regardless of if this is your first time on the site or your 1000th thank you for being a part of the DST family.
This was a pretty great week for us here at DST as we hit new heights for viewers on our site (We want to keep the people informed). To celebrate this, I am bringing out the big guns this week for my parlay; I don't want to use this word a lot, but this bet is a guaranteed winner. You guys have been so amazing helping this blog grow so just sit back, and I'll take care of you, it's parlay time.
Everton vs Crystal Palace - (-143)
Everton is coming off their first lost of the season as they lost 1-0 to Bournemouth. Luckily, they play one of the most inconstant teams in the league in Crystal Palace. Even though Palace won their last match 3-2 (Came back from 2-0 down) their defense is too poor to stop this Everton side who is ticking under their new manager Ronald Koeman. With Lukaku starting the season so well I truly think Everton will win this match in a high scoring affair.
Crystal Palace Predicted XI:
Mandanda, Ward, Tomkins, Delaney, Kelly, Mcarthur, Cabaye, Zaha, Puncheon, Townsend, Benteke
Everton Predicted XI:
Stekelenburg,Coleman, Williams, Jagielka, Oviedo, Gueye, Barry, Bolasie,Barkley, Mirallas, Lukaku
Prediction 3-1 Everton
Tottenham Hotspur vs Manchester City - (+202)
Tottenham is coming off a hard-fought victory in the Champions League against CSKA Moscow as Son Heung-min stays on fire as he scored the only goal in the match. On the other hand, Manchester City choked against a poor Celtic side as they drew 3-3. The reasons I am choosing Tottenham is because Manchester City's best player Kevin De Bruyne is injured for this match and Tottenham haven't even conceded a goal from open play all year, so Manchester City need their big money guys to step up which will be hard against Tottenham's back four.. Secondly, we all saw what Moussa Dembélé (Celtic) did to Manchester City so you can only guess what Son Heung-min can do to this Manchester City back line. Tottenham is going to keep their great start going and beat Manchester City. Up the Fucking Spurs.
Manchester City Predicted XI:
Bravo, Sagna, Otamendi, Stones, Kolarov, Fernandinho, Navas, Silva, Gündoğan, Sterling, Aguero
Tottenham Predicted XI:
Lloris,Walker, Alderweireld, Vertonghen, Davies, Wanyama, Lamela, Eriksen, Alli, Son, Janssen
Predicted 2-1 Tottenham
Watford F.C. vs A.F.C. Bournemouth - (+132)
A.F.C. Bournemouth goes to Vicarage Road to play against Watford, and I can only see a Watford win. Watford has had a good start to the year and thry even beat Manchester United 3-1 in their last match at home. Whoever wins this game will need to win the battle of the midfield, and that's exactly why Watford will win. Bournemouth's midfield isn't good enough to stop the inform Étienne Capoue. This should be an exciting match, but Watford will 100% win in this match.
Bournemouth Predicted XI:
Boruc, Smith, Francis, Cook, Daniels, Surman, Stanislas, Arter, Wilshere, Ibe, Wilson
Watford Predicted XI:
Gomes, Kaboul, Prodl, Britos, Amrabat, Pereyra, Behrami, Capoue, Holebas, Deeney, Ighalo
Prediction: 2-1 Watford
Another great week and another great parlay. If any of you guys are betting this weekend tweet us @DST_Tweets!
Most websites tell you about sleepers and players to stay away from but we aren't most websites, we don't stop there. Which is why using stats and brain power we are telling you guys the three rookies that will be fantasy studs for this season. Obviously, many people will have a different top three and if you do tweet us and tell us your top three at @DST_Tweets.
3. Jimmy Vesey (LW) - New York Rangers
Drafted: 66th overall pick In The 2012 NHL Entry Draft
Previous Team: Boston College (Hockey East)
There aren't a lot of players who are coming into the year with more hype and pressure to come out of the gates scoring goals than this guy. The Vesey sweepstakes was the main NHL story this summer and adding the pressure of playing hockey in New York City it is a lot to handle for a kid in his early twenties, but it seems like he is handling it nicely. Vesey is the holder of The Hobey Baker Award for best player in college hockey, and after his amazing Traverse City display, he seems like he will slot into a top-six forward role immediately. Tonight (9/29/16) he will be playing with Kevin Hayes and Rick Nash, this shows how much AV and the Rangers organization loves him. This is a solid pick.
2. Auston Matthews (C) - Toronto Maple Leafs
Drafted: 1st Overall Draft Pick In The 2016 NHL Entry Draft
Previous Teams: ZSC Lions (National League A)
As a proud American, this hurts not putting him as number one. This kid is a fucking STUD; he was awesome at the World Juniors this year and even better at the World Cup of Hockey for North America. Mathews is going to be the next big U.S. American Hockey star, but sadly, his team is pretty shit right now. They have other youngsters like Mitch Marner and William Nylander, which will make them an exciting team this year, but I am worried he doesn't have the best supporting cast to help him get a good +/- and assists. I love you Auston, don't be mad at me about being number two, please prove me wrong. Be the savior America needs.
1. Patrik Laine (RW/LW) - Winnipeg Jets
Drafted: 2nd Overall Draft Pick In The 2016 NHL Entry Draft
Previous Teams: Tappara (Liiga)
Patrik Laine is first on my list not just due to his incredible showing at the World Cup of Hockey, or his size (6 foot 4 inches) but also because of his team. Him and Mathews are the two favorites to win the Calder Trophy this year (which is fair) and the reason why I think Laine is better equipped to do better this season is because of his team. If his season goes well, he will most likely play with two out of Mark Scheifele, Blake Wheeler, Nikolaj Ehlers or Drew Stafford. These players are veterans who are known to score goals and assist which is why Laine will get the most amount of points for NHL Rookies (Hot Takes dropping all over you fools). This kid is cocky and is a beast, can't wait to watch this kid play.
Here they are people; I think most of us can agree on the last two but if you don't think Vesey should be three tell us by following us on Twitter at @DST_Tweets and telling us. You can also tell your friends to check out the blog, so we can all debate together. Let's keep this blog growing guys. Thank you for the constant support. Now go out there and enjoy some preseason hockey.
We are back baby! Hopefully all of you guys enjoyed the amazing Champions League matches this week (and Europa League for my Manchester United friends), but lets' get back to the amazing world of the Premier League. Once again these players are just from the Saturday matches minus the early match (Swansea vs. Liverpool). Sadly, there are only four games to choose from but don't worry we will still give you the best players for your daily fantasy needs for the weekend.
Ben Foster: West Bromwich Albion - 4,500
I feel like every week now I have Ben Foster in my team because he is that good for daily fantasy. First off, everything is about money. Ben Foster is a cheap goalkeeper that will make you able to spend big on your forwards and midfielders. On the field, he plays for Tony Pulis who is known for a boring defensive style of play, and now they are playing against Sunderland who are a pretty weak side, and I see him and West Brom getting a clean sheet. Thank me later.
Étienne Capoue: Watford F.C. - 6,600
Étienne Capoue has been fantastic since the start of the season as he had four goals and one assist for Watford. Now they have a home match against A.F.C. Bournemouth where I feel he has the capability to take over this match. Capoue will score a goal this weekend and even if he doesn't he will always have a chance to get an assist with players like Deeney and Ighalo in front of him. Also, he is pretty cheap. Don't miss out on this bargain guys.
Diego Costa: Chelsea F.C. - 9,200
Diego Costa is another player who has been on fire this season, and now they go to Hull City which could be a blowout. Costa didn't have loads of chances against Arsenal, but if this season showed anything, Hull City would give you chances and Costa is up there with the best with taking chances. I hate Costa, but you can't take away how good he is, and I wouldn't be surprised if he had multiple goals.
Another great player spotlight for you guys, of course, tomorrow we have our Premier League Parlay so get ready for a good one!
Follow us on Twitter at @DST_Tweets
Hey guys, welcome to our newest weekly blog "the three." This week our Three will be, The three players all Premier League fans miss. I know there will be a lot of debate which is why I picked this topic, if you don't agree with me than just tweet us at @DST_Tweets or leave a comment. So now let's go and get this debate going!
3. Sandro - Queens Park Rangers F.C.
Previous BPL Teams: Tottenham Hotspur (2010-2014), West Bromwich Albion F.C. (2015-16)
Ah, Sandro, I don't know what I love more about you, your amazing beard, wacky hairstyles, your passion for the game, threatening Charlie Adams or of course, your amazing singing skills. Sandro sadly is at QPR; a team in the second division of English Football, but hopefully, us Premier League lovers will see him in the Premier League sometime soon because the game can't have enough character and he has loads of that. We Miss you, Sandro.
2. Emmanuel Adebayor - Free Agent
Previous BPL Teams: Arsenal (2005-2009), Manchester City (2009-2011), Tottenham (2011-2015), Crystal Palace (2015-2016)
Adebayor, where do we start with this guy. Everyone hates him, but we all know we want him back in the Premier League. He is one of the most skilled strikers I have ever seen but never managed to score goals consistently for more than one year due to his AWFUL attitude and work ethic. As a Spurs fan I hate him but also I will always love him for his incredible celebration to mock Arsenal fans while he was at Manchester City.
You are like an STD Ade, no one wants you but it's always interesting when someone else does.
1. Michu - Real Oviedo
Previous BPL Clubs: Swansea City (2012-2014)
Michu is loved all over Football Twitter for his amazing celebration and even more his incredible season with Swansea City in 2012-2013 when he scored 18 goals for the club. Sadly, he fell off the face of the earth after that and landed at his hometown club in the second tier of Spanish Football. Michu, I know you are reading this. We miss you. Come Back (and score more goals against Arsenal please) xx.
Well, here we have it, I'm assuming some other people will have other choices for their three and that's okay! Tweet us @DST_Tweets. Be back later today with our Draft Kings Player Spotlight!
Since my Fantasy Hockey Sleepers blog went over so well, I thought I would do the exact opposite. The five players to stay away from this NHL season. The NHL and Yahoo fantasy writers over rated many players, but we will tell you who they are so you don't have to do all the research to find out yourself. Let's go into it.
5. Matt Murray (G) - Pittsburgh Penguins
NHL Pre-Draft Rank: 100
Listen, don't get me wrong Murray was great in the Penguins Stanley Cup run but he isn't worth the 100 rank and definitely not the 12th ranked goalie going into the fantasy draft. Matt Murray is still a young and inexperienced goalie, and if he goes through a rough patch (which all young goalies do), he will get benched for NHL veteran Marc-André Fleury. Now with his thumb injury, I wouldn't pick him up in the early rounds and honestly, there are better goalies to pick than him. Move on to the next one.
4. Marián Gáborík (RW) - Los Angeles Kings
NHL Draft Ranking: 252
I love Gáborík; he was great for the Rangers, and I will be forever grateful for that. I know you guys will be at your computer on draft night and see Gáborík there still on the board in the eighth round, and you draft him and say "fuck it, he gets goals!" but NO! Don't do it. First off, he is injured for the next eight weeks and could be even more and with his speed decreasing with age his numbers will slowly go down. I promise you there are better players to pick, and if you want to know who check out my last hockey blog (shameless plug NDB)
3. Andrew Shaw (C) - Montreal Canadiens
NHL Draft Ranking: N/A
This photo sums up Andrew Shaw; he's just a dirty fucking hockey player. Shaw is a good player don't me wrong, but he is the definition of a good hockey player but bad fantasy player. You can quote me on this; Shaw will get maximum 45 points this year and unless you play in a league where the only thing that matter is penalty and suspensions than don't draft him. He is a glorified waiver player.
2. Mike Green (D) - Washington Capitals
NHL Draft Rank: N/A
Mike Green's numbers have slowly gone down and will keep going down as he gets older. He had 7 goals last year and had a negative +/- and this year it will get worse (saying he doesn't get injured before than). He is a bad defender and now that his offensive skill is fading he isn't the player he was in 2010. He will most likely go in your draft but please guys, don't be the sucker who picks him up.
Evander Kane (LW) - Buffalo Sabres
NHL Draft Ranking: 191
Evander Kane has all the talent in the world, but none of that matters when you are a cocky shit. Kane is already known for his shitty attitude on and off the ice and now he took it too far with his misdemeanor as he trespassed a bar in Buffalo. I know he will be playing with Eichel and players like that but his attitude is so bad he can truly go in a free fall if he doesn't fix his attitude, and honestly, I don't think he can fix it. Stay AWAY
Here it is guys, listen to me, stay away from these fucks, thank you so much for all the views on my sleeper blog, and hopefully this one does even better! If you want to keep tabs on our new blog posts, follow us on @DST_Tweets.
As the Tuesday matches come to a close, I was lucky not to lose any money (Thanks, Real Madrid and Dortmund) but sadly, I didn't make any either because my parlay was destroyed by a weak Porto side and a shitty last minute equalizer from Monaco against Leverkusen. With all of this we still just need to move on to the next day and realize every day is another opportunity to make some bank. Wednesday is a very different matchday compared to Tuesday as there are a lot more "Sharks vs. Minows" matches but don't worry, we still made for you a pretty great parlay.
Parlay Risk/Reward: 20.00 ----> 156.23
FC Bayern Munich vs Atlético Madrid - (+160)
Bayern Munich go to Madrid as they play against Antoine Griezmann and company in the big match of Wednesday. Last year they had an incredible battle in the Semi Final of the competition that ended in an Atlético victory. Both of these teams have the talent to win this match, but the two main reasons why I think Bayern will win this game is because of their amazing striker Robert Lewandowski and his fantastic start to the season as he has five goals already. Secondly, I don't think Atlético can go goal for goal with this Bayern side. Not just because of their amazing forwards but also their amazing back four which is probably the best in the world. I see this game being a tight and exciting, but Bayern Munich will just edge it.
Bayern Munich Predicted XI:
Neuer, Alaba, Boateng, Hummels, Rafinha, Kimmich, Vidal, Sanches, Muller, Lewandowski, Douglas
Atlético Madrid Predicted XI:
Oblak, Juanfran, Godin, Gimenez, Felipe Luis, Koke, Gabi, Carrasco, Gaitan, Griezmann, Gameiro
Prediction: 2-1 Bayern
Manchester City vs Celtic F.C. - (-290)
Manchester City go to Scotland to face Celtic in a match they need to win to show they can cope without their most inform player, Kevin De Bruyne (Out for three weeks). As we saw against Barcelona, Celtic look way out of their league in this competition, and I fear for them as I think Manchester City have enough to put 4 or 5 past them. If you do Champions League daily fantasy, I would 100% pick Sergio Agüero as he will score in this match. Manchester City will roll on with an easy win.
Manchester City Predicted XI:
Bravo, Zabaleta, Stones,Kolarov, Clichy, Fernando, Fernandinho,Silva, Nolito, Sterling,Agüero
Celtic Predicted XI
de Vries,Gamboa, Lustig, Toure, Sviatchenko, Tierney, Roberts, Brown, Bitton, Sinclair, Dembele
Prediction: 4-0 Manchester City
PSV Eindhoven vs FC Rostov - (+152)
PSV goes to the scary land of Russia as they go to try to get their first win in the Champions League against Rostov. PSV have so much talent and should win this match, but Russia is such a hard place go. Which is why Rostov could pull one out but home field advantage can only get you so far in a game and players like Siem de Jong, Andrés Guardado, and Jetro Willems are too good for the Russian side and PSV will win.
Rostov Predicted XI:
Dzhanaev, Kalachev, Mevlja, Navas, Granat, Kudryashov, Erokhin, Gatcan, Poloz, Noboa, Azmoun
PSV Predicted XI:
Zoet, Brenet, Moreno, Isimat-Mirin, Willems, Propper, Guardado, Ramselaar, Narsingh, de Jong, Pereiro
Prediction: 2-0 PSV
This is a big parlay folks, we are going to get this betting train back on the mark with a victory today. Everyone enjoy the matches and of course, follow us on Twitter at @DST_Tweets
This week are we back to having European Competitions as the pressure is on for some teams (Looking at you Tottenham) to pick it up and try to push through to the Champions League Knock-Out stages. On Tuesday we have picked three matches that if parlayed can win you a beautiful $486.94 for just $20 (That's 15.42 Pounds for my Uk friends)! We are in for a wonderful week of European Nights so let's go on and start winning.
Tottenham Hotspur vs CSKA Moscow - (+137)
Tottenham is coming off a win as Son Heung-min slotted home two as they beat Middlesbrough 2-1. Even though they won, their second half was pretty weak and will need to do a lot better if they want to get anything from this match in Russia. CSKA are playing in top form in the Russian League as they are yet to lose a game (Then again, it's a shitty league). I think this will be a close match (and dare I say) a dull game as Tottenham will try just to go up there a steal a victory with Manchester City coming up after. I think this game will come down to defensive structure, and not many have a better back four than Spurs. If you are looking to be entertained this game might not be for you BUT Tottenham will get it done.
CSKA Moscow Predicted XI:
Akinfeev, Shchennikov, Ignashevich, Berezutski, Fernandes, Wernbloom, Dzagoev, Ionov, Eremenko, Golovin, Traore.
Tottenham Predicted XI:
Lloris, Walker, Alderweireld, Vertonghen, Davies, Wanyama, Alli, Eriksen, Son, Lamela, Janssen.
Prediction: 1-0 Tottenham
Bayer 04 Leverkusen vs AS Monaco - (+210)
Leverkusen goes to Monaco in a match that seems like the more exciting game out of the Group E fixtures. Monaco are top of the group due to beating Tottenham and now are favorites to go 2-0 in the group and beat the German side, but that will not happen, and Leverkusen will win this match. Their star striker Javier Hernández is coming off a game where he scored a "perfect hattrick" and won't stop and will score against Monaco. I think the last matchday was more of Tottenham playing sloppy than Monaco playing well which is why I'm going for an easy Bayer Leverkusen win.
Monaco Predicted XI:
Subasic, Raggi, Fabinho, Glik, Mendy, Jemerson, Thomas, Bakayoko, Bernardo Silva, Joao Moutinho, Germain
Bayer Leverkusen XI:
Leno, Toprak, Wendell, Tah, Henrichs, Brandt, Bender, Aranguiz, Chicharito, Kiessling, Mehmedi
Predicted: 2-1 Leverkusen
FC Porto vs Leicester City F.C. - (+245)
FC Porto goes to England and plays against Leicester City who were killed on Saturday by Manchester United, and this is the perfect time for Porto to play them. Even though Leicester have fire power upfront their back four is so bad that anyone can score against them which is why FC Porto is a fantastic bet (especially with these odds). There isn't much to preview, it will be a high scoring match that will be a joy to watch, but when the whistle blows, and the match is over, Porto will be the victors.
Leicester Predicted XI:
Zieler, Simpson, Huth, Morgan, Fuchs, Mahrez, King, Drinkwater, Gray, Slimani, Vardy
Porto Predicted XI:
Casillas, Layun, Felipe, Marcano, Telles, Pereira, Andre, Otavinho, Silva, Brahimi, Adrian
Prediction: 3-2 Porto
Another great parlay here and hopefully the games do not disappoint. We will also be having a Wednesday Parlay and maybe even an Europa League Parlay this week (if you guys want that Tweet us at @DST_Tweets).
I put this in my blog yesterday but thank you to all of you guys for helping this blog grow and I hope we can keep growing together and this is the start of something special. Much Love all. Keep dreamin' and keep betting.
As a hockey fan who loves fantasy sports this is one of the best times of the year, the preseason is about to start, and it's time to do your hours of research for your fantasy drafts. My favorite night of the year is draft night, the comradery, planning and feeling that you are a general manager for a night is addicting to say the least. Everyone knows that fantasy hockey isn't won with your Ovechkins, Crosbys, and Kanes but won on your late picks and your sleepers who will be the ones to get a couple of points when you are in a tight matchup. Luckily for you, that's why I am here to tell you five sleepers you NEED to fight for in your draft.
5. Andrei Vasilevskiy (G) - Tampa Bay Lightning
NHL Draft Ranking: 154
Andrei Vasilevskiy is coming off an impressive Stanley Cup Playoff campaign that saw him with a .920 Save Percentage which made Lightning GM Steve Yzerman give him a new contract. Even though it isn't certain he will start this year, he will play at least play 35 games and maybe more if they decide to trade Ben Bishop (Last year of contact), or he gets injured again. He is a perfect second or third goalie due to his stellar save percentage and top defensive core in front of him.
4. Derick Brassard (C) - Ottawa Senators
NHL Draft Ranking: 125
Derick Brassard is a gem of a hockey player; he will get you goals, assists, power play minutes, +/- and everything in between. These qualities are what made him one of the most lovable athletes in the tri-state area with the Rangers. Brassard will most likely be playing with Bobby Ryan and Mike Hoffman which means he will be getting some crazy fantasy points this year and is someone you should do everything in your power to get.
3. Frank Vatrano (C/LW) - Boston Bruins
NHL Draft Ranking: Undrafted
Even though Frank Vatrano has been ruled out for the next three months (Foot) he would still be an amazing pick up for your fantasy season. This is the first player on the list you probably won't have too much competition getting, but you should still go hard to get him. Vatrano last season scored 36 goals in 36 games with the Providence Bruins (AHL) and when called up he tallied 11 points (8 goals and three assists) in 39 games with the Bruins. These stats might not jump off the page, but he has shown in the College (UMass-Amherst), AHL and now the NHL he has an eye for goal and could become a top-six forward for the Bruins this season.
2. Nikolaj Ehlers (RW/LW) - Winnipeg Jets
NHL Draft Rating: Undrafted
Nikolaj Ehlers is coming off a great season for the Jets where he had 38 points (15 Goals and 23 Assists) in 72 games. The speedy ninth overall pick in 2014 is tipped to be a first liner this season with Mark Scheifele and their top goal scorer, Blake Wheeler. With his blazing speed and skill to create chances, I can see him doubling his assist numbers this season and is another player that you CAN'T afford to go undrafted.
1.Rasmus Ristolainen (D) - Buffalo Sabres
NHL Draft Rankings: Unclear (Average Round: 9)
With nine goals and 32 assists Ristolainen had a quiet but great year for a below par Buffalo team. Many people are picking Seth Jones to be the marquee defensemen sleeper pick, but I think this guy is going to be a top 15 fantasy defenseman this year. With Eichel, Kane, Okposo and O'Reilly on his team, he has no shortage of top forwards to pass to this season. He might not get you that many penalty minutes like most top defensemen will but he will sure make up for that with many assists and improving into a double-digit scoring season. The only negative is his +/-, he had a terrible -21 due to their weak goaltender, but his pros certainly outweigh his cons.
I hope this helps anyone else who wants to jump into the world of fantasy hockey. Also, I have a big announcement: My Premier League Draft Kings Player Spotlight is coming to the NHL! Five times a week we will have Player Spotlights, so you know who to pick for daily fantasy! Thank you all for support to help grow this blog. Hopefully, it is just the beginning of something special.
If there are any other NHL blogs you want me to do just tweet us at @DST_Tweets
It was another fantastic Saturday of Premier League Football as we saw goals, comebacks, collapses and of course, another disappointing match from Stoke City. This Saturday we saw 27 goals and so many of them were absolute beauties. The three players I picked played outstanding and deserved to be the first star, but everyone knows that's not how we roll so sit back and enjoy the show (and the occasional hot take)
Third Star: Mesut Özil - Arsenal
Listen, I hate giving any credit to Arsenal and if you read my blog daily you know I do think Kevin De Bruyne is better than Ozil BUT today Ozil was unbelievable. He had a goal and a Match Rating of 8.75 and truly deserved his Man of The Match award. Ozil has gotten much criticism over the years for being invisible in the big games but today he was the opposite of that. To go up against Chelsea and their manager who gets sucked off by all pundits for being a "defensive mastermind" and play how he did it was just remarkable.
Still won't do shit against the mighty Tottenham though. ;)
Second Star: Philippe Coutinho - Liverpool
Philippe Coutinho had a fantastic game this weekend against Hull City as he had one goal, an assist and won the first penalty for his team (handball). I have always been critical of him; I think he doesn't show up every week and is a bit overrated, but I am being proved wrong as he has stepped up his game even more and thoroughly deserved 9.76 match rating and Man of The Match. Many people might believe he deserves to be the First Star but the most important thing is how valuable you are to your teams performance on the day, and honestly, Hull played so bad I still think Liverpool would have won easily without him which is why he is only two on this list.
First Star: Son Heung-min - Tottenham
Son Heung-min was on fire again for Tottenham as they won 2-1 against Middlesbrough. Son was Tottenham's only true clinical player as he scored two goals and one was an absolute BEAUTY. In our first game without having Harry Kane we needed a player to step up and get this massive win for Tottenham and Son did just that. For these reasons he deserved his 9.75 Mating Rating, Man of the Match and the most significant award, a Degenerate Sports Talk First Star of Saturday.
Another successful Saturday for DST, tomorrow we will not have a Three Stars since there is only one match but we will be back with gambling and soccer talk as we prepare for Match Day Two of the Champions League.
If you have a different Three Stars, tweet us at DST_Tweets.
