We are back with another round of NHL picks to start your week off as we are trying to make it two in a row as we will be previewing the Metropolitan Division clash as the Blue Jackets go to the red-hot Rangers! In this blog, we will discuss the over/under and the key reasons why our winner will come out on top! Of course, don't forget to support the blog by following us on Twitter at DST_Tweets.
Columbus Blue Jackets @ New York Rangers
Blue Jackets: (-102)
It has finally happened! It looks like the Rangers' coach Alain Vigneault has finally grown balls and have given the team the very needed wrath as they have looked like house league players in the beginning of the season! In saying this, they have now turned it around since the alleged attack on his players as they are on a three-game winning streak that has shown the Rangers don't just have a goal-scoring capability but have guts as they won a playoff-like game against Tampa Bay and battled and clawed back to beat the Panthers in overtime. They now go back home and face the top team in the Metro in the Columbus Blue Jackets. The first few things that stick at to me are these teams last ten games against each other; the Rangers have won 6 out of the ten games with seven of them going the traditional over of "5.5". Where it gets a little shocking are both teams have been AWFUL on the power play and incredible on the penalty kill, and with the amazing power play of the Rangers this season will that change? Yes because the Columbus Blue Jackets are ranked 23rd in road penalty kill. Another scary fact for the Blue Jackets is that they are under the 10% for their road power play percentage which puts them the second worst in the NHL and against the Rangers, that has been their Achilles heel. My DST Spotlight of the night is Rangers center Mika Zibanejad; he has been a point per game player at home this season with an average of 19:21 minutes per game AND FOUR power play goals, he will get chances during this game and don't bet on him to miss! This game will be close, and I would stay away from the under/over, but the Rangers will keep their hot streak going in front of their fans (or whoever shows up).
Prediction: 4-2 Rangers (Empty Netter)
