We are back baby! The Premier League season is only days away which means that it's prime prediction season, and you've come to the right place! We've got your Golden Boot pick, we're going to let you know which clubs who will be going down, and of course who will be lifting the beautiful (albeit not as beautiful as the Stanley Cup) Premier League trophy in May. With all the action this summer and the parity throughout the league, this year might be the most action packed season in the Premier League Era. All season long, DST will be the only site you need to follow Premier League news, and the best site for picks to make you a shit ton of money.
Individual Premier League Predictions:
Worst Signing: Álvaro Morata (Chelsea) - This was the summer of Romelu Lukaku, every major club was linked the Belgian but unfortunately for Chelsea, they lost out on him because he wanted to dance with Paul Pogba at Manchester United. So they went for their distant second pick who was, of course, Álvaro Morata who was bought for an initial fee £58m. I wrote amonth ago that I think he's going to be a flop, as I see him getting eight to twelve Premier League goals this season. They will quickly regret getting rid of Diego Costa.
Signing Of The Season: Jay Rodriguez (West Brom) - If you guys have read the site for a while you know I love West Brom, they are just amazing. They may be utter shit to watch, but they consistently get the job done as they have a perfect combination of boring defensive players and players with serious attacking flair. West Brom added to their attacking core of Nacer Chadli, Salomón Rondón and Matt Phillips with Jay Rodriguez. This guy was one of the hottest players in the transfer window a few years back and since then he's suffered from almost constant injury problems. People forget that he was the forgotten man of the now famous Southampton team of the 2013/14 season. Now with a move to West Brom for around 13 million, his career will be reborn again as I see him helping West Brom battle it out for a top 10 spot this season.
First Manager Sacked: Mark Hughes (Stoke City): At 3/1 odds, Mark Hughes is the favorite to be the first manager sacked and I completely agree. I can't say this enough, but Stoke could be the most impressively inconsistent team in the world. There are some weeks they are amazing, and some weeks where they can't make a 10-foot pass. Sadly for them, I see latter being the norm this year for Stoke as they lost their best player, Marko Arnautović to West Ham. I know there are a bunch of shit managers, but we have seen teams like Huddersfield, Brighton, and Newcastle, show loyalty to their managers, so I see Stoke having a rough season, and with their alleged bad locker room environment, I don't see Hughes staying long.
Young Player Of The Year: Leroy Sané - Manchester City F.C: If you guys read our fantasy blogs (which you should if you want to dominate your league) I have been saying that this is the year of Leroy Sané. The Manchester City winger had some issues with injuries and general inconsistency last year, but with a year of experience under his belt he will flourish. When you look at the skill of Manchester City, it is hard to see them not scoring the most amount of goals in the Premier League which will give the German a huge chance of getting more goals and assists. When you also add that the odds are at 17/2 this is truly a low risk but an insanely high reward.
Note: They just won't give it to Dele Alli three years in a row, that would be a waste of a bet.
Golden Boot Winner (Most Premier League Goals): Harry Kane - (Tottenham Hotspur): There are a few things in this world that are guaranteed, death, taxes and Harry Kane scoring at least 25 goals a season in the Premier League. Even at 3/1 odds, I would take this bet. This guy is a god damn super hero, in two years he accomplished so much as he has won two golden boots, had a kid (guaranteed sex haver), got engaged and now favorite to be the next England captain. With the players Kane has around him like Dele Alli, Christian Eriksen, and Son Heung-Min, it isn't a question of if he will win the Golden Boot but by how much.
You can quote me on this; Harry Kane will break the 30 goals mark this season in the Premier League.
PFA Player Of Year: Harry Kane - (Tottenham Hotspur): I know many people will attack me for this, but it's time for the most prolific scorer in the Premier League to get his award. For seasons he has been carrying Tottenham, and he will do it again this season. As I see him getting 30 goals and helping Spurs secure AT LEAST a top three spot even though they are playing their home matches at Wembley. Also, who else will get it? Chelsea won't win the Premier League so betting on Eden Hazard is like burning money away. Paul Pogba was missing 80% of the season last year, Alexis Sánchez may leave, and even if he doesn't, I don't think Arsenal can challenge this season and Álvaro Morata at 16/1? Come on; the guy may not even start for Chelsea. So this brings me to who can challenge Kane, there is only one player, and that's Kevin De Bruyne, but you usually don't see Center Attacking Midfielders win this award due to these players often having a tendency to go missing for large parts of the season (and he's a ginger). Premier League title or not, Kane will get this award, and at 8/1, this is an amazing bet.
Top Four Predictions:
Before I start, I do think this is the hardest prediction yet, from six to two, any of these clubs can finish anywhere which is what makes it so hard, but I fully believe this is how it will end:
Fourth: Chelsea - Even though they are coming off an exceptional Premier League campaign, I just don't think they will be able to repeat that season again. First off, every single team besides Tottenham have improved massively, and I just don't believe they have. I do like the signing of Tiémoué Bakayoko, but if they believe Morata can replace Diego Costa, they are truly fucked.
Third: Manchester United - Last season, Manchester United were the second best defensive team with only 29 goals conceded. The big issue for them last season was their offense, even though Zlatan Ibrahimović had a very good season, their conversion rate was STILL 13.0% which was the fourth worst in the entire league. I do think Lukaku will have around 20 goals, but more importantly, the players around him will improve so I see them breaking into the top three for a guaranteed Champions League place.
Second: Tottenham Hotspur - Tottenham finished last season in second as they were incredible in their final season at White Hart Lane. Now they have to play at Wembley until their new stadium is done, which will hurt them but not as much as all of these pundits will think. The big loss for them is selling Kyle Walker for 50million and just flat out not spending it, but it doesn't matter because no matter what they do, they will not catch the first place team, as their depth is just not there.
First: Manchester City - When your club spends more on defense than some major countries do (facts), you know you are in an insanely good spot to win the Premier League. With Gabriel Jesus, Kevin De Bruyne, Leroy Sane, and Sergio Agüero their defense and attack are miles ahead of most Premier League teams. They have spent too much money not win silverware, and I think they will, this is their year.
Odds To Win Premier League: 7/4
Teams To Be Relegated:
20. Huddersfield Town A.F.C. - Not enough Premier League experience, flat out.
19. Brighton & Hove Albion F.C. - I do think they have a chance to surprise but at the end of the day, is Chris Wood going to score enough goals to keep you safe? Hell to the no.
18. Burnley F.C. - I love Sean Dyche, but losing Michael Keane will hurt them a lot AND when you add they were horrific away form last season, it's their time to be humbled again, and they will go down.
It has been way too long, the summer was completely shit without the Premier League and now it's back, and it's going to be better than ever, so come back tomorrow as we will have our Premier League parlay, as we create the best accumulator for this weekend in the Premier League.
