After the loooong break we took after the World Cup, your favorite blog is back with our world famous Premier League prediction blog! Obviously, you may not be happy with me about the lack of blogs, but I wanted to wait until the end of the transfer deadline to make my Top Four picks, Fantasy PL picks and much more so now that we can focus on the games, those will come! Also, I usually do breakdowns of every move made by Tottenham Hotspur and obviously.....that wasn't the content machine I thought it would be.
Tottenham Hotspur F.C. @ Newcastle United F.C.
Newcastle and Tottenham will once again face off at the start of the year as Spurs will look to have Deja Vu as they won the match 2-0. Both teams come into this game with very different mind frames. Newcastle even with the smart signings of Rondon and Ki, the supporters are still a little upset over the lack of moves especially when you look at Wolves, Fulham and other of the team that they believed will be their rivals if they want to stay up this season. In saying that! At least Newcastle has made a move as Spurs went the whole window without buying or selling a SINGLE PLAYER. I can go on a big rant about this, but it isn't the time or place. Tottenham goes into this game with a few injuries, but luckily besides Erik Lamela and Victor Wanyama, none are players that would start. We also have rumors that most of the World Cup heroes (Kane, Dele, Lloris, and Trippier) will be in contention to start this match. The one player that we know will start for Spurs is Christian Eriksen, who historically has always played well against Newcastle, and he will be the man to watch for in this match. Everything will go through him as I guarantee he will get off the season to a great start with at least one goal contribution. It will be tight, but Tottenham will get it done.
Prediction: 2-0 Spurs
DST'S GAME OF THE WEEK - Manchester City F.C. @ Arsenal F.C.
Manchester City: (-110)
It's been around 1,000 years, but finally, we are at the day where Arsenal will take the field without Arsene Wenger as their head coach for the first time in the Premier League. Sadly for them, they don't have an easy layup to start the year as they go up against title favorites and last years winners, Manchester City. As you have expected, both teams did some smart buys this summer; I am still not convinced about Arsenal though, I still think they need another defender and players who can show consistently throughout the whole year. In saying this, it does look like their new smart signing of Leno will get his first start in net for them in this match. BUT! Manchester City are just a different animal, and one player to look out for in this game will be Germany's, Leroy Sane. He will look to piggyback on his amazing season last year and show the world that Germany was idiotic not to take him to the World Cup in Russia. I think it will be close, but City will get it done, and I see Sane getting a goal.
Prediction: 3-1 City
