It's finally here. The North London Derby is only a few days away, and I am already shitting myself. Today we will be telling you all you need to know about this massive match and even some advice on who to bet on/ which are the best props for the biggest derby in London (some would say in England). I don't care if you have never watched a game before, you WILL be an expert by Sunday.
Tottenham Hotspur F.C.
League Position: 5th
Form (Premier League Only): WWDDD
Goals Against: 5
Goals For: 14
Tottenham Hotspur goes into this match with many concerns. They are most likely without their two most important outfield players, Harry Kane (Striker) and Toby Alderweireld (Center-Back) with the defender pretty much ruled out completely where there are still hopes for Kane to make the bench. As I wrote early in the week, Mauricio Pochettino has a lot to think about particularly in the back as they need someone to fill the void left by the best defender in the Premier League. On the brighter side, Tottenham does have the best defense in league with only five goals conceded all season. Also, if you're like me who believes in the Manager vs. Manager statistics, Pochettino has not lost to Wenger in the Premier League as Tottenham manager, even though it's only a few matches, it is still something to note.
How Can Tottenham Win?
For Tottenham to win, they need to defend extremely well. I know this sounds obvious, but they will have to stop Alexis Sánchez and control his movement as he likes to drift out wide, which IF Tottenham's defense played like they did on Wednesday in the Champions League, this can get ugly. As we know with Arsenal, the more they miss chances and don't score the more the team overcompensates, and the crowd gets's angry. They will need to play a smart attacking style of football and use the strength of Vincent Janssen holding up the ball until their creative players like Eriksen, Lamela and Alli can get up the field. This will be a VERY tough task.
Notable Injuries: Toby Alderweireld (CB)
Banned: Moussa Sissoko
Doubts: Mousa Dembélé (75%), Harry Kane (50%), Erik Lamela (75%)
Predicted XI: 4-1-4-1
Lloris, Walker, Dier, Vertonghen, Rose, Wanyama, Lamela, Eriksen, Alli, Son, Janssen
League Position: 2nd
Form (Premier League Only): WWWDW
Goals Against: 10
Goals For: 23
Arsenal goes into this match heavy favorites as they were one of the best teams in the month of October. With Mesut Özil and Alexis Sánchez firing on all cylinders and now Hector Bellerín seems like he will be fit enough to start for Arsenal which is a massive advantage. Even though they are playing extremely well, statistically Arsenal's worst month is November which is something to look out for. The biggest question mark for Arsenal will always be if things don't go their way do they have the leadership to be able to turn their fortune around and IF it does happen will the supporters turn on them?
How Can Arsenal Win
There is a pretty simple way to go about things if you are Arsenal, with Sánchez and maybe even Walcott in their front three you need to have fast and speedy movement to open up a Tottenham back line which is without their best centre-back Toby Alderweireld. The most important players for Arsenal will be their fullbacks, whether it is Bellerín, Monreal or even Jenkinson. So much of Spurs attacks will be from Kyle Walker and Danny Rose, and IF they don't stop the blistering pace of those two full backs, Tottenham can hurt Arsenal on the counter attack. In Conclusion, all Arsenal need to do is use their speed to slowly breakdown the Tottenham back line and stay very organized during the Tottenham counter attacks.
Notable Injuries: Danny Welbeck (F), Lucas Pérez (F), Per Mertesacker (CB)
Doubts: Héctor Bellerín (75%), Santi Cazorla (50%), Nacho Monreal (75%), Theo Walcott (75%)
Predicted XI: 4-2-3-1
Cech, Bellerín, Mustafi, Koscielny, Monreal, Coquelin, Elneny, Walcott, Ozil, Iwobi, Sanchez
Tottenham Win: +305
Arsenal Win: -105
Arsenal Win: 19/20
Tottenham Win: 16/5
I usually always go the over. The North London Derby always has goals in it but with Tottenham most likely setting up very defensively I would bet the under. The last two matches at the Emirates have ended 1-1 and betting the over is a very unsafe bet. I love betting props, but this one is risky, I would stay away from this one.
Money Line: Prediction
Arsenal fans go into this match extremely confident, and I am sorry to say, but they will be disappointed. Tottenham always comes to play for the North London Derby which is why we haven't lost one since Tim Sherwood (in the Premier League). With Harry Kane back for Tottenham, it will be a massive morale boost after a couple of tough weeks for Spurs. I am not going with a Spurs win, but I will NOT go with an Arsenal win. This will end in a 1-1 Draw.
As always, thank you for the support and of course, enjoy the game!
