When I woke up this morning I expected to see maybe a Trump tweet, a girl rejecting me on Tinder or just the normal "Will Tottenham's team crumble this summer?" take but instead we woke up to a pretty big bombshell as Manchester City attacker Leroy Sane was left out of the German squad. Even after his incredible season with Manchester City that helped spur them to the Premier League trophy. Even though I hate Manchester City as a club, it's tough to deny that Leroy Sane is an exceptional talent, who is becoming a household name around the world and would have loved the chance to become one in non-soccer loving countries like the United States (which I believe he would have). The central question is, did he actually deserve to go? And what players who were picked in front of him should leave us not just confused but feel sorry for the City boy.
Julian Brandt (Age 22) - Bayer Leverkusen
One of the more shocking picks was Julian Brandt, the 22-year-old midfielder had a good season for the German side Bayern Leverkusen, was it even close to how good Sane was for City? Absolutely not, the Bayer boy ended the year with nine goals and just a very poor three assists. If Germany has trouble scoring, this pick may be put under a microscope for years ahead.
Julian Draxler (Age 24) - PSG
Even though Draxler had only four goals and five assists all season for PSG this one makes more sense than Brandt. Draxler is an incredibly versatile player who also was on the team that won them the World Cup in 2014. Leroy Sane is the better player but the fact that he has been there and done that has made me not question this move.
When looking at these two, in particular, it's just MIND BLOWING, Sane didn't make it, on all around skill, he is up there with the best Europe, which makes us all believe that this is maybe something off the pitch because it just all doesn't make sense. I genuinely don't know what to make of it, and this seriously hurts the chances of me putting any money on them this summer.
