We are back with another Premier League picks blog as this is our second week of our new format where we have one audio preview and two write-ups! Last week, I predicted Burnley to win (nope!), Liverpool to win by more than one (boom) and Manchester City to win (sadly). But here at DST, we demand perfection which is why we put more research into this week as we will make a clean sweep before Christmas.
DST Audio Preview: Liverpool F.C. @ Arsenal F.C.
Prediction: Liverpool 3-1
Tottenham Hotspur F.C. @ Burnley F.C.
It's time for the DST Derby! We have my amazing Tottenham Hotspur against the team that has single-handedly kept me afloat in Burnley in a battle for fourth place! All joking aside, there many reasons why this game is so huge, not just because they are both so close to each other in the table and that one of Liverpool or Arsenal will drop points, it will also show if Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino has learned from his mistakes against Manchester City. The swapping right-backs every other game doesn't work, this week has shown that Serge Aurier is the better player and deserves to start this weekend. Luckily for Spurs, they will get back Davinson Sánchez who has been suspended for the last three Premier League matches. Burnley are an outstanding team, and the fact they are home does worry me, but I see this playing out how it did last season. Both teams will battle at 0-0 for a while, and Spurs will get the breakthrough and shut Burnley down and win the match 2-0.
Prediction: 2-0 Spurs
Newcastle United F.C. @ West Ham United F.C.
West Ham: +110
What seemed like a relegation dogfight at the start of the season has quickly turned into a clash of two midtable teams as Newcastle will take the trip to lovely London and face West Ham. I kept quiet when David Moyes got hired by West Ham because I had a feeling this would happen. Moyes is easily the most mistreated manager in the league, he was thrown into a bad situation at United and failed, but what he did for Everton was incredible, and West Ham is on par or maybe a little smaller than Everton, so it shouldn't shock people it worked. Newcastle has four losses in a row and is 18th in away form which is frankly just awful going up against an inform team who has been stellar at home. This is an easy bet; West Ham will win.
Prediction: 1-0 West Ham
