Hey Guys, now that we have no Club matches for Two weeks and Regular Season Hockey hasn't started yet this will be a new blog we will do as we look at the top 5 players in each position in the Premier League. When making a team, you always need to start at the goalkeeper, so this will be the first of many Premier League Power Rankings we do during this and other International Breaks.
5. Jack Butland - Stoke City F.C.
Jack Butland had a breakout year last season as he regularly saved Stoke City's bad defense with fantastic and clutch performances. Stoke Last year averaged 1.45 goal conceded a season and this year without Butland they are conceding an average of 2.42 goals. Jack Butland is the future of English goalkeeping and I can see him being a starting goalie at a Tottenham or Arsenal in a couple of years.
4. Thibaut Courtois - Chelsea F.C.
Thibaut Courtois is a class goalkeeper, and like Jack Butland, he is extremely young and will rule the goalkeeping world for years to come. I see him ending up in Spain when he hits his prime. He still is prone to mistakes though, like this season he only has a 47.1% save ratio to start the season. He needs to be better to get further in this list.
3. Petr Čech - Arsenal F.C.
Putting him third probably won't stop Arsenal fans from telling me I am a "biased cunt" but I am just honest. He only has a 70.8% save ratio (8th in the league) this season and as seen last year he is slowly becoming worse as he makes mistakes. Even though he is one of the best keepers in Premier League history he is slowing down and I do not consider him a true match winner anymore.
2. David de Gea - Manchester United F.C.
This might not be the best time for David De Gea as again he made a mistake on Stoke City's goal as they drew 1-1. He has started the season with a poor 65% save ratio which is in the bottom 10 in the league. David De Gea is the best pure shot stopper in the league, but he makes mistakes and last year we all saw him concede weak goals (mostly near side). I think in the next couple of years he will leave Manchester United to go to Real Madrid and live out his life in an easier league.
1. Hugo Lloris - Tottenham Hotspur F.C.
Listen, many people won't agree with me so before I talk I am just going to drop some facts.
Save Ratio: 77.8% (1st in the Premier League this season)
Match Rating: 7.06 (3rd in League - Minimum Three Matches)
Hasn't Conceded a Goal from Open Play All Year
Tied for First in Clean Sheets: Three
Anyone who watches Tottenham knows every single game Hugo plays he makes a world class save or clearance to save Tottenham a win or a point. Bravo Hugo, you fucking deserve this.
