Another day another great power rankings as we look at the left flank of the field for the five best Left Midfielders/Forwards in the Premier League. In this, we look at goals, assists, successful take ons, crosses and more. This one was tough because in my opinion there are six that are battling for this spot, but I think we did we did a great job of narrowing it down. Let's get into it.
5. Anthony Martial - Manchester United F.C.
I feel sorry for Anthony Martial; he is too good of a talent to be playing this poorly. He has an average total Match Rating of 6.40. Even though he moves around the midfield a lot his most used position is the Left Midfield spot where he only has two assists in five matches and a weak 6.55 Match Rating. Seeing how poorly he is doing under José Mourinho just proves to me why Pep is better because JM should be doing a lot more with a talent like Martial.
4. Son Heung-min - Tottenham Hotspur F.C.
Son Heung-min is the hottest player in the Premier League right now as he is scoring and assisting for fun for Tottenham Hotspur and even scored yesterday for South Korea. Son is crushing the Match Rating rankings as he is averaging 8.83 in all competitions which just shows how good he has been all season. Even though he changes his position a lot, when Harry Kane is fit Son will play Left-Mid, and it is his best position. If he keeps this going, I think he can get into the top three, but it is too early.
3. Eden Hazard - Chelsea F.C.
Eden Hazard is a pretty overrated player, and I honestly feel he isn't a top player and will never be. I see people bring him up with names like Alexis Sanchez, Gareth Bale, and even Willian and he shouldn't be. He goes missing so much (like last year) and has an AWFUL ego. Chelsea fans love bringing up his season two years ago when he was amazing, but since then he's been poor and if Son and Martial keep improving he can easily get replaced in the top three on this list. Even though I just trashed him, he does have a great match rating with a 7.68, but for someone of his hype, he should be doing better.
2. Raheem Sterling - Manchester City F.C.
Raheem Sterling is statistically the best under 21 player in the world right now as he has the highest Match Rating with a 7.63. We all know how much skill Sterling has, but Pep Guardiola has helped him improve even more and is one of the main reasons why Manchester City is such a dangerous team. Sterling has played in a lot of positions this year now that Kevin De Bruyne is injured. If he can keep improving with Manchester City and England, we will be looking at one of the premier wide men in the world.
1. Alexis Sánchez - Arsenal F.C.
Alexis Sánchez being number one on this list was one of the easiest choices I've done on this blog yet. Sánchez has been playing in CF, but his best position is Left Wing (Not his fault Giroud sucks). This year he as a 7.83 Match Rating as a more central forward and last year when he played weekly on the left side he had a 7.72 Match Rating in the Premier League and an amazing 8.16 in the Champions League. Even as a Spurs supporter I know he is the best.
