As Monday has come to a close we are done with Matchday 25 which saw upsets, gorgeous goals, heart breaking injures and everything in between. No matter who you support, there were three players that went above and beyond that we can all appreciated. If you are looking for Alexis Sánchez turn away now, a handball and a penalty doesn't get you on this list (Sorry not Sorry).
Third Star: Sadio Mané - Liverpool F.C.
Even though I predicted a Tottenham win, I said Sadio Mané was going to have a huge match and he didn't disappoint. Mané exposed Tottenham and more importantly Eric Dier and Ben Davies. He had both Liverpool's goals, two successful take-ons, a 78% passing percentage and a key pass. Even though these stats don't jump off the page, to have both goals as a struggling side against Tottenham was clutch and showed how important the winger is to Liverpool's success. He ended the game with a match rating of 8.5 and the Man of the Match.
Second Star: Manolo Gabbiadini - Southampton F.C.
Last week I said Manolo Gabbiadini was going to be one of the best transfers of this window, he is a striker that uses speed and his shot power to score goals. I did think it was going to take longer than two games to get in the groove of the Premier League but two matches in he already has three goals. He didn't just destroy Sunderland on the scoreboard to but help his team with the amazing link up play with one key pass, a 74% passing percentage, and five shots. He ended the match with a match rating of 8.79 and the Man of the Match. Can Manolo Gabbiadini solve Southampton inconsistency problem?
First Star: Alfie Mawson - Swansea City A.F.C.
Swansea City once again pulled out an incredible win to distance themselves from the bottom three as they took out Leicester City 2-0. In this high stakes relegation battle, we saw key players step up. No one was more clutch and important in this game than Alfie Mawson. Mawson didn't just score a world class goal he also was a beast at the back as he had an 89% passing percentage, won 83% of his aerial duels, nine clearances, and two inceptions. The young center back looks like he can be the present and future for this Swansea back line as they try to stay Premier League regulars. He ended the match with an 8.88 Match Rating and the Man of the Match. What a game for the Englishman.
