According to the Mirror, Tottenham's most trusted defender and some would say most valuable player, Toby Alderweireld, will miss Tottenham's biggest match; the North London Derby. Tottenham has been average at best of late, and with Harry Kane coming back they could use the Belgian to help stop an Arsenal attack that is on fire.
It is evident who three out of the four players in the back line will be, Kyle Walker at Right-Back, Jan Vertonghen at Left Center Back and Danny Rose at Left-Back. Now our Center-Back options is last year's breakout defender Kevin Wimmer who seems to be falling out of favor with Mauricio Pochettino. Then we have our young American Center-Back Cameron Carter-Vickers and the favorite to play Sunday, Eric Dier, who came to the club as a defender and has now converted to a defensive midfielder.
How Should We Line Up?
In my opinion, there are two ways to go about this; we can either play Eric Dier at Center-Back and play two Central Defensive Midfielders: Victor Wanyama and Mousa Dembélé. Even though this seems like the likely option, I feel like against an Arsenal team that is flying high we need to set up more defensive. As we saw against Middleborough, Arsenal can sometimes have issues breaking down teams and can be vulnerable to the counter attack. If I were Pochettino I would line up like this:
Walker - Wimmer - Vertonghen - Rose
Dier - Wanyama
I know this is a very defensive style of play, but we can't take a chance against this Arsenal side. When we play them at White Hart Lane on April 29th, I hope we will be fully healthy, so we play more of an attacking style.
With Harry Kane likely to play, we have a chance to win this match. Even though it might not sound like it, I am extremely confident of our team's ability. If you want to tell us how you would lineup make sure to tweet us at DST_Tweets. Once again, thank you for the support.
